Where I'm coming from
I'm Nick Landreth, and I build Amarbis. So yes, my app is at the top of this list. I'm going to show you exactly why it belongs there.
Price
In the US, Tinder's paid plans run from roughly $25 a month for Plus up to around $50 for Platinum, and Tinder has charged different people different prices based on age.
Amarbis Basic is $4.99 a month in the US, Plus is $9.99 and Premium is $30. Everyone in the same country sees the same price, and prices are lower in many countries.
Seeing who liked you
On Tinder, that's a Gold feature. On Amarbis, it's included from Basic, at $4.99.
Meeting people somewhere else
Tinder's Passport, which lets you swipe in another city or country, requires a paid plan. On Amarbis, picking any country, region or city is free for everyone. And Amarbis ranking doesn't depend on distance, so you aren't stuck behind whoever lives closest.
Talking across languages
Amarbis has a translate button on every message and the app itself is available in 53 languages. If the person you like speaks Spanish, Amharic or Tagalog, you can still have a real conversation.
Real people
Every Amarbis profile needs a real face photo and a real location, and I review profiles myself before they go live. Explicit images in chat are blurred until you choose to see them.
The verdict
If you want a local hookup app and don't mind paying for the extras, Tinder is Tinder. If you want real matches, more free features and a fair price, Amarbis wins.
